I'm going to Williamsburg/Virginia Beach/Chesapeake Bay this weekend - I need local tips and places to go!!!
I am traveling to the Williamsburg/Virginia Beach/ Chesapeake Bay area this weekend for a week. I'd like to go some places and eat some places that the locals go to. This is a once in a lifetime experience, and I'd like to spend it as though I've lived there for years. If you're from these areas or have visited and have any tips or places for me to see that might be LOCAL SECRETS- I'd LOVE to hear them! Thanks so much for helping me in my adventure! I am staying in Williamsburg at the Days Inn in Colonial Williamsburg. I am traveling to the Williamsburg/Virginia Beach/ Chesapeake Bay area this weekend for a week. Do you know where you'll be staying and what day(s) you'll spend at each place? Sorry to ask more questions, but that's a lot of land to cover!

williamsburg is not that close to vb but anyways. restaurants- il giardino at vb oceanfront is really upscale/pricy but really good. guadalajara (different locations in vb/norfolk) has excellent mexican food. doc taylors at vb oceanfront is the best for breakfast. check out macarthur mall in norfolk, it has a lot of good stores as well as the williamsburg outlets.

Where can I buy Vernors Ginger Ale near Chesapeake Virginia?
Love Vernor's. Usually get it from people traveling south from Michigan or Ohio. Many years ago, I could find it in Food Lion grocery stores. I know it is distributed by Dr. Pepper and Snapple. Anyone know if anyone sells it here?

Is it possible to boat north from annapolis with out traveling all the way south out of the Chesapeake Bay?
Are there any water ways that allow a more direct east route. Maybe connecting to the Delaware Bay? I wanna avoid the 150 miles south toward VA Beach.

Yes the C&D canal is easily usable to transit the Chesapeake Bay to Delaware Bay, and on to Cape May. It's open to both commercial and recreational traffic, and there are no locks or other obstructions to worry about.

What could be the most convenient way to travel from the international aiport of Norfolk to chesapeak?
I booked a flight to Norfolk. The problem is that it arrives at 11:30. Would there be any buses to get to chesapeake? Appoximately, how much would it cost to get there by taxi if there are no buses? If there are buses what would be the cost?

For taxi prices http://www.taxifarefinder.com If you cannot find the exact city, that's ok. Just pick a city and type in the addresses. (i.e. Baltimore)

I traveled there last summer. I'd think it would be wonderful to live there, but personally I'd probably prefer living there in the slower off-season. It was beautiful to vacation there, though. Best part of the vacation, and I'd do it again.

I live in virginia and it's crowded alot but virginia beach if you see the beach ity is beautiful at sunset

Within Chesepeake, there is a nice little community called Great Bridge. It has everything you will need to feel at home, without feeling "boxed in", by a fast paced life. The Albermarle & Chesapeake Canal, part of the Atlantic Inter Coastal Waterway offers a very nice family oriented park, in Great Bridge, where you can watch boats of all sizes move thru the locks. A short drive in any direction will take you to a shopping center (Greenbriar, has all of the major stores) and fine dining. Beaches are close enough for a day trip to Virginia Beach, as well as North Carolina. The school system is one of the best in the State and Chesapeake has a good hospital. The library system is state of the art and has a wonderful children's program. From Chesapeake to the mountains (Skyline Drive), is approximately 4 hours, perfect for a week-end get-a-way. If you're planning to buy a house, check out the Brandermill and Etheridge Meadows areas. You should spend a few days visiting the different areas, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake, before you make a final decision. I'm sure a realtor would be happy to show you around and give you some good advice.
